Mission and values

Transforming engineering into a driving force to accelerate ecological, industrial and digital transitions by mobilising science, innovation and collective expertise for the benefit of society and local communities.

Acting in a changing world

An ambitious goal

To put engineering at the service of transitions in order to address three priority societal challenges:

  • Decarbonised industry and society
  • Circular economy
  • Responsible digital society

The College of Engineering is rolling out new initiatives in initial and continuing education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and scientific mediation, while strengthening the openness and international collaborations of its institutions.

At the heart of our values: the commitment of prestigious universities to creating a positive and lasting impact on society

The Lyon Saint-Etienne Engineering Alliance is based on five core values: excellence, knowledge transfer, collective action, diversity and a keen sense of the common good.

The main idea behind this set of values is that it is the responsibility of grandes écoles to generate a positive and lasting impact on society.

This is why the College of Engineering works for the common good with major commitments:

  • Engaging in dialogue with socio-economic actors to anticipate their needs in terms of both training and research
  • Making our knowledge, resources and technologies available to support major transitions
  • Increasing the number of graduates in the region, in particular by creating new training programmes, diversifying student recruitment methods and strengthening the validation of prior learning
  • Supporting companies in their industrial transformations
  • Supporting public policies for transition

What makes us unique

  • Our institutions fall under the remit of three different ministries: the Ministry of Higher An organisation supported by institutions under three ministries:
the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Ecological Transition
  • A unique alliance between four leading French public engineering schools, belonging to brands and networks of excellence
  • A major capacity for action, supported by the volume of engineers trained and high-impact research
  • A unique French engineering school model, enhancing its appeal to an international audience

Our commitments
